Wakefield, Mass. - Boston College picked up two more victories in the week, while Massachusetts, UNH and Maine all won their single league games over the weekend. UMass-Lowell split its series with ECAC foe Princeton, while Vermont shutout St. Lawrence.
The Eagles earned a 3-2 win at Harvard on Wednesday night and took out Providence College on Saturday night at Schneider Arena, 3-1. Sophomore forward Cam Atkinson (Greenwich, Conn.) scored the first goal in each contest for BC. Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Steven Whitney (Reading, Mass.) assisted on three of the Eagles’ six goals on the week.
UNH picked up its league-leading eight conference win of the season on Friday night at Providence, 4-3. Sophomore goalie Matt DiGiralamo (Ambler, Pa.) stopped 32 shots in his first start of the season for the Wildcats. PC’s Kyle MacKinnon () tallied three goals in two games, including two in the UNH contest.
Senior forward Will Ortiz (Framingham, Mass.) scored a pair of goals for UMass in the 4-1 win against Merrimack on Saturday night at the Mullins Center. Junior netminder Paul Dainton (Genelle, B.C.) made 33 stops in the victory for UMass, which included 16 third-period saves. Merrimack’s Andrew Braithwaite (Kingston, Ont.) tallied 35 saves in the losing effort.
Maine was paced by sophomore forward Brian Flynn (Lynnfield, Mass.), who posted a threepoint effort vs. Northeastern in the 5-1 triumph at Alfond Arena. Black Bears goalie Scott Darling (Lemont, Ill.) allowed only one goal for the fourth straight game with 23 saves.
Rob Madore shutout St. Lawrence for the second time in his career on Saturday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse with a 21-save effort. Senior forward Brian Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) tallied two goals in the win for the Catamounts.
UMass-Lowell opened the weekend with a 4-1 victory vs. Princeton on Friday and lost the series finale on Saturday afternoon, 3-2. UML freshman forward Riley Wetmore (Swanton, Vt.) collected three points (2g,1a) in series vs. the Tigers.
Boston University was defeated by Rensselaer on Friday, 5-3, at Agganis Arena.
