Germain Heading to Providence
Hooksett, NH - The New Hampshire Jr. Monarchsare
pleased to announce Matt Germain has verbally accepted a scholarship
offer to attend Providence College beginning this fall.
The two-year veteran and assistant captain has been nothing less
than superb this season leading the Monarchs to a current overall
record of 39-5-1 and has helped them remain in the top spot in
the Eastern Junior Hockey League all season. Matt is 3rd
in EJHL scoring with a 15-40-55 line in 34 EJHL contests.
"What a great day for Matt Germain", stated GM/Head
Coach Sean Tremblay. "I can't say
enough about this young man who has worked as hard as any player
we have ever had sit in our locker room. He is very deserving
of this accomplishment and Tim Army and his staff
are getting one of the best two-way players in the east.
I look at Matt's stats and see he only has 16 PIMS this year and
that is because he simply plays hockey the right way. He
never hooks, cheats, or is lazy. He absolutely punishes
players with clean hits and is the type of hockey player every
young player should aspire to be like."
Matt was equally proud of his mentors and offered the following,
"Ever since I was a kid I always wanted to play Division
One Hockey. The Monarchs program has made this dream a reality.
I am thrilled and excited to be heading to Providence College
next year as it has been a top choice of mine for some time and
it is an incredible feeling to have fulfilled my dream.
I feel as though my two years in the Monarchs program has enabled
me to be fully prepared for playing at the next level. Every
aspect of the Monarchs program prepares you to play hockey at
the next level from the tremendous coaching staff to the outstanding
trainers to the superb strength and conditioning program.
I have been able to grow as both a player and a person during
my time here in New Hampshire and I can't wait to continue that
growth under Coach Army at Providence College."
With ten games to go in the regular season, the Monarchs need only four more wins to clinch both the Northern Division Title as well as the EJHL League Championship. Matt is prepared to lead his team towards those goals and win another title just as his older brother David did in 2004 before he took his game to Yale University. Matt is the son of John and Linda Germain of Quincy, MA.
